Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries Scholarships to study in Japan

When it comes to studying Japan, there are many reasons why this country is popular among international students. Some students are drawn to Japan because of its excellent educational standards, while others are drawn to Japan because of its rich cultural history.

Nearly 5 million students study abroad each year, and the number is expected to rise.

Japan is one of the most popular foreign student destinations, with over 150,000 international students. Furthermore, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries scholarships to study in Japan have made it possible for many students to study these subjects apart from others such as Engineering, innovative business, and technology in the country.

According to the OECD, Japanese high school students score first in the world in arithmetic and second in scientific literacy. Since 2000, Japan has had the most Nobel Prize winners of any Asian country, and the second-most of any country. In Japan, 49% of high school graduates attend university. Japan has approximately 700 universities, with ten of them ranking among the top 200 in the world. Among these, a majority of students fly to Japan to study its innovative methods of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.

Agriculture, farming, and fishing, along with the Japanese mining industry, make up the primary industrial sector of the Japanese economy, yet they only account for 1.3 percent of GDP. Only 20% of Japan's land is suited for agriculture, and the country's agricultural industry is heavily supported. The scarcity of acreage in Japan is the most conspicuous aspect of the country's agriculture. In 1988, the 4.9 million hectares under agriculture accounted for only 13.2% of the total land area. The land, on the other hand, is heavily farmed. Rice fields may be found across the nation, whether on alluvial plains, terraced slopes, swampland, or coastal bays.

The unique techniques of farming, agriculture, and fishery of Japan have been replicated as an educational curriculum in most universities in Japan, the USA, Fiji, Finland just to name a few. Another reason why international students prefer studying this subject in Japan is that agriculture, forestry, and fisheries scholarships to study in Japan have become easily attainable for international students. Studying in Japan will give you an unparalleled opportunity to live, work and explore a different culture. You will be able to learn about the people, the culture, the history, and the language of one of the world's most unique cultures in Japan.

Japan has produced some extraordinary alumni from various universities in Japan that are now world leaders in their respective fields. For example, Masami Yasunaka is the current Vice President of JIRCAS and possesses a Doctorate in Agriculture from Kyushu University in Japan. His main area of expertise is earthquake-resistant earth structure design. Before arriving at JIRCAS, he worked in government planning in agricultural research for MAFF. Apart from undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships, PhD scholarships in Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries allow students not just from Japan but other parts of the world to take part in learning about the country’s innovative technologies and fast-growing economy that highly depends on agriculture and engineering.

Japanese agriculture has been characterized as an "extraordinary" sector because it must contend with a variety of constraints, such as the rapidly diminishing availability of arable land and falling agricultural incomes. Nevertheless, the Japanese manage to keep production at high levels.
