Education System in South Korea

After completing the 12 years of schooling, the country has tertiary education of 6 years where 4 years go in a

 bachelor’s degree and 2 years of master’s degree that can be later followed by the doctoral programs. There are also junior colleges and vocational schools with a lower threshold of admission. 

Each year in universities has a two-semester that consists of the spring and fall semesters. The spring semester is from March to June and the Fall semester is from September-December. Each semester is mostly 15 weeks long.

How To Apply?

Most universities in South Korea accept applications 4 months in advance to the starting of the semester. The language-specific courses have an easier application process and even start quarterly or frequently with more flexibility. With the changing times, some universities have started accepting applications online nowadays. Allowing the process to be much more efficient for the international students. On the contrary other schools wish for it to be more primitive paper applications.

To study in South Korea, you can fund your education by securing a scholarship. This will either fund you entirely or immensely lower the cost of your degree program.

Scholarships In Universities

Student Housing In South Korea

You have to finance your housing in South Korea. The in-campus dorms can cost you anything around 2,600,00 won (2100 USD) for a semester. It is a reasonable price and even the food is quite cheap in cafeterias. A meal costs around 3,500 won which is 2.9 USD in campus cafeterias. You can choose to stay off-campus where you don’t face any kind of restrictions but that can have different costs including the commute costs.
