The term “Middle East “ is used for the part of the world that lies between Western Asia and the countries of Turkey and Egypt. The Middle East is a new addition to the QS world university rankings by region. The latest QS Arab region university rankings feature nearly 150 universities from this area. However, since these universities can be expensive, international scholarships to study in the Middle East are very helpful for overseas students.

Many of the scholarships are available in all the countries including Egypt, Israel, Qatar Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, and others. The scholarships cover tuition fees, accommodation expenses, travel expenses, and more for the students.

Here is a list of some of the most promising international scholarships to study in the Middle East:-

1) ICGEB Research Grants for Member States

The International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology provides research grants to students who are the beneficiaries of the scholarship. Once they win this award, students can undertake research projects in science, healthcare, industrial biotechnology, agriculture biotechnology, bioenergy, and other related fields. You can study in any of the ICGEB member countries provided you are a student of any university in these countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar etc.

2) Al Qasimi Foundations Doctoral Research Grants

The next scholarship on the list of international scholarships to study in the Middle East is the Al Qasimi Foundation Doctoral Research Grants. This foundation offers doctoral research grants to applicants of all nationalities in the UAE or abroad. To qualify for the scholarship the applicant must be a Ph.D. student at a university recognized and accredited by the foundation. The scholarship covers all the expenses of the students in the course of their research degrees in the UAE including travelling costs, living costs, accommodation costs, and research costs.

3) Masdar Institute Scholarships For International Students

The Masdar Institute offers scholarships for all international candidates on its campus in the UAE. The scholarships are available for applicants to study masters and Ph.D. at the institute. Some of these international scholarships to study in the Middle East are funded by the International Renewable Energy Agency.

4) Abisch- Frenkel Doctor Scholarships

This scholarship is offered by the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine to train students in scientific leadership for the upcoming academic year. The aim of the scholarship program is to give encouragement to academically brilliant candidates to join the international community of researchers in biomedical research in Israel. It aims to develop the public skills, scientific skills, educational skills, and professional leadership skills of the students in Israel.

5) MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at AUB

This foundation offers several UG and PG scholarships to study at the American University of Beirut located in Lebanon. A wide range of such scholarships are open to refugees, Lebanese citizens, and citizens of Africa.

6) Muscat University Entrance scholarships

These scholarships are open to Omani citizens as well as international students to study for a graduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Muscat in Oman. A student may be eligible for Muscat University Scholarship if:

  • They are classified as a self-funded student for tuition fee purposes.
  • They hold an offer for Foundation, Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught programme at Muscat University which will start in the commencing academic year.

7) Qatar University scholarships  

These undergraduate scholarships are open to all international students at the University of Qatar to study their bachelor’s degree programs    The scholarships are divided into internal and external scholarships.Internal Scholarships are offered by Qatar University to students who are livingin  Qatar. Students with these scholarships are exempted from paying tuition fees.

External Scholarships are offered by the Qatar University to applicants from outside of Qatar. These applicants can apply directly to the University for scholarships. Such students are sponsored by Qatar University and these scholarships exempt them from paying for tuition fees,university accommodation, and fund their annual travelling expenses.

8) TUMS Scholarships in Iran

The Tehran University of medical sciences offers a variety of international scholarships for international students to study all levels of medical sciences at the University. Financial aid is one of the ways in which the university helps its deserving and meritorious students in getting a good education. The courses in which scholarships are provided are:

  • Medicine.
  • Dentistry.
  • Pharmacy.
  • Nursing.

9) INSEAD UAE Campus MBA Scholarships 

The organisation INSEAD offers various undergraduate scholarships for MBA at any one of its three campuses including Abu Dhabi and UAE. However, one needs to be mindful that not all listed scholarships are available for studying in the UAE.

10) Khalifa University Teaching Assistant Scholarships- 

The Khalifa University offers masters and Ph.D. scholarships for overseas students studying in the university which is located in the UAE. In return for the fundings, students have to perform the duties of a teaching assistant during the course of their studies.

11) DOROT Foundations Fellowship

These scholarships are available for American and Canadian students to study in Israel and build and enhance their leadership skills. The Dorot Fellowship is aimed at assembling and empowering a number of young Jewish leaders to develop the American Jewish community. Each year, 12 Dorot scholars are chosen to live in the nation of Israel by the fellowship, where they sharpen their talents and skills, gain experience, and broaden the networks needed for Jewish leadership in modern times.

12) Israel government scholarships for Foreign Students

The Government of Israel offers a wide range of scholarships for international students to study in Israel for a period of one year in either a language degree or research program.

13) AMIDEAST need-based scholarships

These scholarships are offered to American students who are financially unstable and need to study in the following countries- Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia.

14) AUC scholarships for Non-Egyptian Students

These scholarships are available for international students based on merit to study at an Egyptian university named the American University which is located in Cairo.

15) Nile Basin Scholarship at Alexandria University

Students who are residents of the area of the Nile Basin are eligible to apply for the scholarship to study a master’s or Ph.D. course at Alexandra University.
