List Of SDS Colleges In Canada For Students

sds colleges

The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a simplified study permit method proposed by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for students from certain countries who wish to study in Canada at one of the designated learning institutions. A DLI is a Canadian higher education institution that has been granted permission to accept overseas students. SDS colleges and universities are other terms for these institutes. If you meet all of the qualifying conditions, you may acquire your study permission in three weeks using the SDS steam.

How Does SDS Work?

Although the Student Direct Stream in Canada streamlines the application process and speeds up processing times, you must still fulfil all of the conditions for a study permit. The processing period for SDS study permits will be 45 days or less. You would be able to ask for a full refund of your Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) straight to the bank that issued it.

To fund your living expenses, you will need roughly $10,000 CAD per year, not including education fees, according to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada regulations. This condition is met by purchasing a participating GIC and providing proof that you have paid your tuition expenses. At the moment, the partnering Canadian banking institutions include Scotiabank, ICICI Bank Canada, and SBI Canada Bank.

Why Choose SDS?

  • Fewer documents are required: The SDS requires far fewer documents than admittance to non – SDS colleges. The programme necessitates the submission of two essential documents – an IELTS test result for English proficiency and a Guaranteed Investment Certificate.
  • Speedy processing: The process to get into an SDS institute is quick and uncomplicated, taking only 45 days in total. Check that you have satisfied all of the programme’s qualifying requirements.
  • Enhanced success rate: SDS programmes have a substantially better success rate than non-SDS ones. During the pandemic, the admission rate through the SDS programme was about 63 per cent, despite a 15.9 per cent drop.

Difference Between Old SDS And New SDS

The most notable difference between the older Student Partnership Program and the newer SDS will be that all higher education institutions with an authorised DLI number will be included in this programme, which will open up a greater number of seats than the previous SPP (Student Partnership Program), which only included 47 institutions. Furthermore, with SDS, your documentation process will be reduced making it easier for you to apply to SDS colleges.

Which Countries Is SDS Applicable To?

Difference Between SDS And Non-SDS Colleges

As per the Student Direct Stream Scheme, Canadian schools, universities, and colleges enroll overseas students subject to certain criteria and requirements in order to ease students’ visa processing.

Non-SDS colleges in Canada, on the other hand, are those that are not covered by this system and provide admission through the usual visa procedure to students who want to further their education in Canada.
