Study In Indonesia

Many international students move to study in Indonesia due to the high-quality education at an affordable cost. The nation has everything you need, like mouth-watering meals, beautiful scenery, and nice people.

In Indonesia, there are both public and private higher education institutions. Education has grown dramatically since the country’s independence in 1945. Indonesian universities follow the typical three-tiered degree system, giving bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, as well as Associate degrees. These three study in Indonesia institutions are among the top 500 in the QS World University Rankings. Universitas Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Gadjah Mada University are among them.

Approximately 6,000 international students are enrolled in Indonesian institutions. For people who do not speak Indonesian, several programmes are offered in English or other languages. Studying in Indonesia for international students, on the other hand, is a good opportunity to learn a new language, which will look excellent on your CV/resume.

About Indonesia

Indonesia is a group of 17,000 islands spanning the equator in Southeast Asia. Only roughly 6,000 of these islands are known to be inhabited. The landscape varies greatly across the country, from beautiful beaches to towering mountains. Natural resources, such as petroleum and natural gas, abound in the country. The country is noted for its volcanoes, which have some of the world’s highest levels of volcanic activity. Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country, with about 250 million people, and the world’s largest Muslim population among Muslim-majority countries.

The country has a tropical climate, which means that temperatures are steady year-round. The climate is generally warm, with average temperatures ranging from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius depending on where you are. Because of the country’s proximity to the equator, this is the case. The driest months are June through October, and the rainy months are January and February.

Religions and customs have an impact on culture across the country. Traditional culture or legendary occurrences are frequently used as inspiration for music and dance performances. The cuisine is spicy in general, reflecting the melting pot of civilizations. Rice, fish, soy sauce, and an abundance of fruit are all common elements in Thai cuisine.

Cost Of Studying And Living In Indonesia

The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the country’s currency. The cost of tuition to study in Indonesia varies according to the institution and degree of study. International students should expect to pay between £2,300 ($3,000) and £4,600 ($6,100) per year on average. You should expect your tuition rates to be higher if you choose to pursue a medical degree. For information on the fees of your specific course, contact your chosen institution.

The cost of living will vary depending on where you study in Indonesia. For example, if you opt to study in a big city like Jakarta, your living expenditures will almost certainly be higher than in smaller locations. For students, annual living expenditures are roughly £6,500/$8,600.

Another cost to consider for overseas students is health insurance. Before you begin your education, you should acquire health insurance. If you already have health insurance, double-check that it’s still valid for your time in Indonesia.

Visas

You will need to apply for a student visa if you want to study in Indonesia. This can be done at your home country’s Indonesian embassy. You should apply for a social visit visa first, then a student visa once you’ve arrived in the nation. The student visa is valid for one year and can be renewed up to four times during that time. You will need a copy of your passport, a copy of your most recent transcript and diploma/qualification, colour passport photos, proof of financial means, proof of good health and health insurance, and acceptance and sponsor letters from your selected institution to apply for the social visit visa. If you require any additional information, please contact your university.

Language

Bahasa Indonesian is the country’s official language. There are approximately 700 recognised languages on the islands, though. While English is spoken in major cities and is used as a teaching language in educational institutions, advanced English is not found outside of these major cities. It’s a good idea to learn a few basic words before moving to study in Indonesia so you can get about quickly. When you’ve been in the country for a while, you’ll notice that you’ve picked up more of the language than you thought; make the most of it by communicating with locals and other international students.

Whether you choose to study English, Indonesian, or any of the other languages available, you will very certainly be required to demonstrate your language ability. For international students who do not meet the language requirements, it is usual for universities to offer language classes. Contact your university for further information on your course’s requirements and language course details.
