Vietnam is situated on the Indochina Peninsula in SouthEast Asia. The country shares boundaries with China, Laos and Cambodia along the coastline to the east of the South China Sea. Vietnam has been a fast-changing economy and an important tourism destination in the past twenty years. Vietnamese higher education institutions provide a wide range of programmes and certain schools in particular fields. Ho Chi Minh City, for example, is specialised in science and technology whereas University of Hanoi focuses on language studies and also gives English courses in business, finance, accounting, international studies and IT. In addition to offering dynamic study areas, the country also offers scholarships to study in Vietnam for international students. These awards are in the form of grants, fellowships and scholarships offered by government as well as private institutions.

Besides graduating in Vietnam, students are able to study in a multicultural setting that gives an insight into South East Asian culture. International private schools in Vietnam have a very varied team of students that bring different viewpoints and ideas from across the globe together. There are several master courses in international schools, all teached in English, from MBAs to Engineering. Students may enter Vietnam on a tourist visa and then convert it to a student visa once they are enrolled in their course of study. Students may apply for this change at the immigration police, although in many instances the school in which they are enrolled or a travel company can help with the paperwork. The universities in Vietnam are both private and public.

National (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) and regional public universities are operating (Thai Nguyen, Hue and Da Nang). The new education legislation gives government preference to private institutions operating on a non-profit basis in relation to land usage, tax, investments in capital and training for personnel. Three categories of universities are also described in the new Law: research, application-oriented and experimental. Students may obtain the original tourist visa through the Vietnam consulate in their country or through a Vietnamese travel agent.

In most cases, universities in Vietnam offering degrees in English are accredited by the national government and can be fully or partially recognized by universities in other countries. So, because you’ll be studying an international degree, you will have better chances at continuing your studies abroad, in more popular study destinations and prestigious universities from Europe, the U.S., Canada, or Australia. Scholarships to study abroad in Vietnam include awards, grants and fellowships for Master’s as well as Bachelor’s degrees in various fields of study, from MBA to IT. The general requirements to be eligible for scholarships in Vietnam are providing evidence of previous degree completion through certificates, CV with photograph, English language proficiency, police clearance certificates to name a few.
