This Prize was established in 1975 by Mrs. Helen Hopkins to commemorate her husband the late George Hopkins who was a woodwind instrument tutor in the School of Music for many years.

  • The value of the George Hopkins Prize 2020 will be NZD 500.

The George Hopkins Prize 2020 will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Music. The University of Auckland Council will not be bound to award the George Hopkins Prize in any year if there is no candidate of sufficient merit. The Prize may not be shared.

 

 

Eligibility

  • The Prize will be awarded annually to the full-time woodwind student enrolled in a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music conjoint degree, Bachelor of Music (Honours), Graduate Diploma in Music or Postgraduate Diploma in Music who achieved the highest mark in MUS 121, 221, 321, 620A&B or 721.
