Scholarship Overview

The Government of the Slovak Republic invites applications for National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic 2020 from PhD students, researchers, university researchers, and artists. The aim of this scholarship program is to support the mobility of the recipients for scholarship stays at higher education institutions and research organizations in Slovakia. Selected scholars will receive a monthly scholarship of EUR 1,000 and a travel allowance of up to EUR 700.

Benefits

Monthly Scholarship

  • For university student – EUR 350
  • For PhD student – EUR 580
  • For university teacher/researcher/artist –
    • without PhD degree (or its equivalent) and less than 4 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist – EUR 580
    • with PhD degree (or its equivalent) and less than 10 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist – EUR 850
    • with PhD degree (or its equivalent) and more than 10 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist – EUR 1,000
  • Additional travel allowance up to EUR 700 to university students and PhD students.

  • Motivation letter
  • Detailed study programme
  • Recommendation letter issued by the applicant’s dissertation supervisor
  • Confirmation issued by applicant’s home university or research institute
  • Scanned copy of applicant’s master’s diploma, highest degree, diploma supplement and state examination certificate (if applicable)
  • Admission/invitation letter issued by the applicant’s host university/research organization in Slovakia
  • List of publications/artistic activities in required form

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be a university student outside Slovakia
  • Be master’s students or have completed at least 2.5 years of graduate studies at the university
  • Be on a study stay in Slovakia during his/her higher education outside Slovakia
  • Be accepted by a public, private or state university in Slovakia for academic mobility to study in Slovakia

OR

  • Be a PhD student whose scientific training and higher education takes place outside Slovakia
  • Be accepted by a public, private or state university or research institution in Slovakia to carry out a doctoral study programme

OR

  • Be an international teacher, researcher or artist who is invited to a teaching/research/artistic stay in Slovakia
