About

Central Queensland University (often known as CQUniversity) is an Australian public university with its headquarters in Queensland. It is the only Australian institution having campuses in every state on the mainland is CQUniversity. However, it also has campuses in Adelaide (Wayville), Brisbane, Bundaberg (Branyan), Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone (South Gladstone and Callemondah), Mackay (central business district and Ooralea), Melbourne, Noosa, Perth, Rockhampton City, Sydney, and Townsville. Its main campus is located in Norman Gardens, Rockhampton. Moreover, CQUniversity collaborates with university centres in Cooma, Geraldton, and Port Pirie and has delivery locations to facilitate distance learning in Biloela, Broome, Busselton, Charters Towers, Karratha, and Yeppoon. Central Queensland University’s acceptance rate stands at 30% with around more than 16,000 students studying on campus out of which 5,000 are international students.

 

In 1967, CQUniversity was founded as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia). Two years later, it changed its name to the University College of Central Queensland, and in 1992 it became the University of Central Queensland, an official institution of higher learning. Later, it officially changed its name to Central Queensland University in 1994.
