Located in the city of Bath, The University of Bath, UK is a well-known public research university in the UK. It acquired its royal charter in 1966 together with a number of other organisations. The university’s history can be traced back to the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, which was founded as a school in Bristol in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers. Bath University's main campus is purpose-built and was erected in 1964. It is situated on Claverton Down, a position overlooking the city of Bath.
