Program Overview

The MSc in Management, Finance and Accounting will provide you with a thorough understanding of the role of accounting and finance in organisational management. You will acquire the specialist knowledge and skills to deal with complex accounting and finance issues and handle them effectively in a range of management contexts.

 

The course features a combination of modules which allow you to focus on areas of interest that relate to your professional needs. You will develop an understanding of the main theories, models, frameworks, and techniques of management. Specifically, you will be provided with a stimulating and intellectually challenging learning experience, along with rigorous teaching in the concepts of financial management and accounting and general management tools and techniques.

 

As well as specific knowledge of financial management and accounting, this degree will develop your ability to analyse and evaluate management problems and make sound strategic decisions. It will also develop your practical transferable skills including the ability to conduct independent research, both online and offline; time management, verbal and written communication, presenting and planning.

 

The course will prepare you for management level accounting and finance careers in public or private sector organisations, or an academic career in this area and offers exemptions from CIMA, the world's largest professional body of management accountants (subject to successful completion of modules).

  • Good UK honours degree or its equivalent, or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution, or a relevant graduate level professional qualification.
  • Or a demonstration of considerable relevant practical experience and evidence of the ability to cope with the demands of the course.


English Language Requirements
IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

If you are resident outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, you will need to pay a deposit of £3,000 to secure your place. This will be subtracted from your total tuition fee.

From 2022 onwards, EU nationals will pay the International fee. If you are an EU national with settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement scheme, you may qualify for the UK fee (subject to criteria).

Our management, accounting and finance courses have been developed to match the needs of employers and are highly regarded within business and government, whether national or international. At the start of the course you will take a week non-credit bearing module which covers two professional certificates.  Firstly you will cover the content for the Investment Foundations Certificate offered by the CFA. It is recognised by employers in the finance industry and can be completely externally to the University for a small fee. You will be also be introduced to the Bloomberg Terminals and given the opportunity to complete a free online examination, 'Bloomberg Essentials'. Completing these professional certificates can really help you stand out to employers.
