About

Alfred University (AU) is a private university located in Alfred, New York. The institution houses the officially recognised New York State College of Ceramics, which is made up of the School of Art and Design and the Inamori School of Engineering. It was established in 1836  as a non-sectarian selective institution. The school was co-educational, which was unusual for the time, and during its first 20 years of operation, it also welcomed its first African-American and Native American-pupils.

The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, The Cohen Centre for the Arts Gallery, The Fosdick-Nelson Gallery, The Robert C. There are 8,000 ceramic items in the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum's collection, which includes both traditional and contemporary ceramic works of art.
