Agricultural studies are a promising career field, quite literally, for students who have the will and passion to pursue it. Students interested in agriculture studies will come across a wide range of scholarships available for them to complete their college education and degrees. There is a wide range of scholarships available in the agricultural studies field, with scholarships being available for farming, agronomy, crop sciences, soil sciences, horticulture, food sciences, plant pathology, etc. Students majoring in agricultural studies will be able to make careers in farm research and management, natural resources, food safety administration, and animal husbandry.  Agriculture scholarships are sponsored by a number of sources like the Federal Government, State Government, professional organisations, and of course colleges and universities. Many of these scholarships require students to be enrolled in a specific course at specific universities, which students need to be mindful of.

1. Bayer Foundations Jeff Schell scholarship

This scholarship is open to students who are pursuing agricultural sciences and other related courses. The scholarships are allotted to graduate students from countries where German is an official language. 2. Swedish University of agricultural sciences

The Swedish University of agricultural sciences offers 3-5 scholarships for international students outside the European Union who are admitted to the university’s masters programs. 3. NFU Mutual Charitable Trust Centenary Award

This trust provides annual bursaries that cover up to 75% of tuition fees for students from the European Union, verseas applicants as well as local UK students who have been enrolled in masters or Ph.D. in agriculture studies within the United Kingdom. The students also need to have previously majored in agriculture or related disciplines. It is one of the top scholarships for agriculture students in the UK.

The University of Dalhousie offers various agriculture scholarships for international as well as local students to study agriculture at graduation level in the university. 

5. University of Guelph UG scholarships

The university offers a wide range of agriculture scholarships available for undergraduate students of Canada and abroad. Postgraduate agricultural studies scholarships are also available at the University. 

6. Chinese government scholarships

7. Obihiro University of agriculture and veterinary medicine

This university located in Japan offers a variety of scholarships for international PG students in agriculture and also veterinary medicine. 

8. ASEAN international student scholarship at Kasetsart 

This is a fully-funded scholarship that covers tuition fees as well as the living expenses of qualified students. It is offered for a period of 2 years to study masters of science in agriculture and resource economics at the University. To be eligible for the scholarship you must be a citizen of any ASEAN country apart from Thailand.  It is one of the top scholarships for agriculture students in Asia.

9. University of Queensland School of Agriculture and Food Sciences

The university offers various agriculture scholarships for domestic as well as international students to study graduation and post-graduation agricultural courses at the school of agriculture and food sciences of the university. 

10. Lincoln University Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences PG Scholarships

Lincoln university offers a wide range of scholarships that are available for international as well as local students to study agriculture at the post-graduation level in the university. 

11. Marshall Papworth scholarships for developing countries 

This scholarship is offered to students in the UK which is worth a total of 23,350 euros. 13,350 euros are for tuition fees and 10,000 euros are for living expenses of the students. The scholarship provides students who are citizens of developing countries with a lot of opportunities to gain exposure to agricultural and horticultural skills that they will need to build a career in the field. This scholarship is offered for the master’s program in either agriculture or horticulture at any UK-based University.  It is one of the best scholarships for agriculture students in the UK.

12. ExtremeTerrain student scholarships

This organisation called extreme terrain offers two scholarships each worth $2500 to deserving candidates for each semester in an academic year. The scholarship is offered to students pursuing a course in environmental studies and research, land use, earth and atmosphere, and sustainable agriculture systems among others. To qualify for the scholarship students need to submit a 700 – 1500 word essay that describes who they are and why their chosen field of study is important to them and the world.  The essay should be accompanied by proof of admission to a US university. The contest is opened in September and results are announced around November each year. 

Who is eligible for the scholarship– UG college or university students and high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in one of the following subjects or related fields- Environmental Studies, Ecology, Earth & Atmosphere Sciences, Sustainable Land Management, Sustainable Agriculture Systems, etc.
