Chevening scholarships are fully funded by the UK government and are offered to outstanding students. This means, to be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship in the UK, you need to have a good academic record. This means you must receive a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in your previous level of study. In addition to that, you must also possess at least 2 years of work experience in your field of study. To be considered for a scholarship by the University of Cologne, you need to have a good academic record as well as show the need for financial support. You will also be required to submit your research thesis proposal based on which the quality of your application will be assessed. The research proposal should include a clear research timeline that reflects research objectives, targets and milestones and the aim of the research. Doctoral students must score a minimum of 65% in their Master’s degree as well as have practical work experience for at least 1 year before applying for the scholarship. Depending on the level of study as well as the quality of your scholarship application, you will be eligible for either: 143,000 yen, 144,000 yen or 145,000 yen per month. This can be used to cover the cost of your living expenses or use it to cover your tuition fees.
