Scholarship Overview

  • The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships- Long term programme is awarded by CWIT & British Council- India. Over the past 30 years, CWIT has awarded around 2,700 grants. This scholarship covers the following fields of study:

    Arts

  • Visual Arts.
  • Performance, e.g. Dance, Drama, Music, Directing.
  • Film - including Script Writing and Direction.
  • Photography.
  • Design (but not Architecture).
  • Curating.
  • Art History.

 

The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships cover the cost of Tuition & Fees, Living Expense, Accommodation and AirFare/Travel.

Heritage Conservation

Conservation architecture. Management of heritage projects or sites. Conservation of materials such as timber, stone, metal including metal structures, armour, paintings, photographs and film. Conservation of landscape. Management of museums and collections.

Shortlisting Process

The selection of scholars for the Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships- Long term involves a multi-stage process. The scholars will be selected after a thorough assessment of merit of all the applicants. The selection process includes:

  • Telephonic interviews for further shortlisting of candidates.

Terms and Conditions

The continuation of the scholarship depends on the good academic performance of the scholars in the examinations conducted by their respective universities.

Renewal cases of stipend holders who are not promoted to the next year will not be considered for further renewal.

 

Eligibility

  • Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their applications and will be invited to the British Council for an interview in New Delhi in February.
  • Applicants:
    • must be residing in India at the time of the application. 
    • must be aged between 25 and 38.
    • must have a first degree, diploma, or professional qualification in their specialization.
    • must not have received a CWIT grant within the last five years.
    • CWIT does not support two year courses.

How To Apply

This scholarship needs a separate external application.

Application Documents

  • A Statement of Purpose, stating clearly which course you plan to follow, what you want to do in the UK, and how you plan to put this into use on returning to India.
  • An IELTS Certificate (essential for unconditional acceptance for most UK courses).
  • Proof of educational qualifications (photocopies).
  • Portfolio submission where appropriate in either online links or uploading pictures or relevant documents.
  • Evidence of unconditional acceptance on the course, program, attachment, or internship for which you have applied, or evidence of progress towards acceptance.
  • A passport size photograph required.
