The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring students pursuing computer science degrees excel in technology and become leaders in the field. The scholarship will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance. The programme is open to students who meet all the minimum qualifications and we strongly encourage students that identify with groups historically excluded from the technology industry, including Women, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, American Indian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, to apply. Students must be studying in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field.

Shortlisting Process

The selection of scholars for the Generation Google Scholarship - Canada involves a multi-stage process. The scholars will be selected after a thorough assessment of all the applicants. 

Terms and Conditions

The continuation of the scholarship depends on the good academic performance of the scholars in the examinations conducted by their respective universities.

Renewal cases of stipend holders who are not promoted to the next year will not be considered for further renewal.

• Have a high school degree or equivalent, unless applicants are currently a high school senior applying to university
• Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university for the 2019-20 academic year OR currently enrolled as a high school senior intending to enroll at a university in the United States or Canada for the 2020-2021 academic year
• Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. program at an accredited university or college in the United States or Canada for the 2021-2022 academic year
• Demonstrate a strong academic record
• Demonstrate financial need
• Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for improving the representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology
