Semester One
The Global Business Environment (5 ECTS)
The purpose of this module is to provide students with a critical appreciation of the global marketplace in which all business operates. The module explores the effects of globalisation and aims to develop student’s understanding of the ways business can adapt in the changing global environment and respond to emerging challenges.
Project Management (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

Project Management methodologies including PRINCE2 and PMBoK (Project Management Book of Knowledge).

The steps to initiate, plan and define the scope of a project, as well as methods to monitor and evaluate progress within a variety of project formats.
-
Tools and techniques used for planning all aspects of a project including developing a Work Breakdown Structure, Gantt charts, and methods for estimating and budgeting.
Quality control procedures and industry approaches that can be implemented throughout the project life cycle.

Risk identification and management in project environments.

The process of selecting, developing and managing effective teams.
Corporate Finance (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with:
- A critical understanding of the key responsibilities and financial decisions facing today’s strategic financial manager.
- Knowledge to compose and financially evaluate detailed business plans.
- An understanding of the potential financial risks facing firms at various levels of development, and appropriate risk management strategies available to them
Corporate Governance (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

The principles and theoretical perspectives applicable to the concept of corporate governance in Ireland.

The role, responsibilities and rights of the various types of directors in Irish company law as well as the statutory and regulatory legal framework applicable to the carrying out of their functions.

The complex variety of rights and obligations affecting employees and employers in an employment relationship as well as the origin of those rights and obligations in common law, contract, statute and constitutional law.

The framework of laws that plays a key role in the regulation of the relationships between businesses and their customers/clients, including consumer protection laws and laws prohibiting discrimination in the provision of goods or services.

The right to privacy derived from the constitution and its application in the modern corporate environment as well as the obligations attaching to companies and businesses under the Data Protection Acts.
Innovation Management (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with:

An in–depth understanding of the elements of innovation management within an organisation

Extensive up to date knowledge of innovation and its role within economic system
Appreciation of the role of innovation management in the organisation such that they would be able to make contribution at a strategic level

Skills to conduct research to analyse and evaluate organisational innovation performance.
Semester Two
Strategic Management (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

The theories and concepts of corporate and business level strategies and the inter-functional coordination.

The diagnostic and analytical tools used in the corporate and business strategy making process.

The various strategies for competing in specific industry/organisation situations.
-
The issues associated with building organisational resource strengths and capabilities.

The key issues when implementing strategy, including alternative strategies, that can maintain or enhance competitiveness within an organisation.
Leadership and Organisational Psychology (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

The nature and principles of organisational psychology

The various theories, principles, styles and techniques of organisational psychology, and leadership

Strategic leaders role in, and various approaches for, the overall formulation, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of organisational strategy and design

The different organisational psychology theories and processes relating to leadership, competitive advantage, organisational design and strategy
Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

The various arguments surrounding climate change and the role of sustainable business in effecting change.

The various strategies for sustainability that businesses can undertake to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The politics of sustainability and the regulatory issues influencing firms.

How technology and innovation provide opportunities for sustainable business;
Services Marketing Management (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of:

The concepts, models and theories that underpin the study of services marketing.

Evaluate the role of customer expectations and perceptions in service delivery and evaluation.

Discuss the importance of a service culture and co-creation of value.

Aligning service design and standards through a greater understanding of the employees’ and customers’ roles in the strategic management of services
Applied Business Practice (10 ECTS)
This module operates as a capstone module, requiring students to draw upon learning from all modules across the programme and apply this in a real-world business context. Its purpose is to enable students to more fully appreciate the relationship between different business discipline areas and how these come together in the workplace, while also ensuring students are more fully prepared and equipped for the demands of the workplace in a leadership role. As Industry increasingly advocates the use of authentic assessment to ensure graduates are better prepared for the demands of the roles they are appointed to, the capstone module prioritises the practical research of significance to the business environment. While the module does not culminate in an academic research project, the module introduces students to research and academic skills to better equip them for identifying reliable and valid information sources, appreciating ethical considerations, and developing their capacity to write business reports and proposals that are research informed and demonstrate critical and analytical capacity required of graduates today. This aspect of the module is designed to serve students across all modules of the programme and therefore the module is taught across two semesters.
In addition to the 10 core modules, students will complete one of the following two modules, Human Resource Management and Workforce Diversity or Operations Management
Human Resource Management and Workforce Diversity (5 ECTS)
The fundamental goal of this module is to help the student gain a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of human resource management and its role in promoting diversity and inclusion. Students will develop knowledge and understanding of human resource management’s core functions, current practices, and challenges.
Operations Management (5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to:

Develop learner’s understanding of the importance of the operations function in organisations.

Provide learners with a firm foundation in the principles and concepts of operations management as they apply in diverse business environments.

Develop learners ability to evaluate, appraise and comment on current challenges for operations management
